Please join Don Liponi for a new presentation on the La Rumorosa rock art style and its origins and meanings, as he presents new material from a third publication now underway. This lecture will explore some of Kumeyaay spirituality and the influences it had upon their rock art style known as La Rumorosa. This was a system that helped them thrive in the wilderness around Borrego Springs for thousands of years before western civilization arrived. The program also explores the photographic technology being used to uncover difficult to see rock art. The group working on this new publication has also initiated and funded a new Kumeyaay Archeology Internship Program to help Kumeyaay high school students learn archaeology, earn college credits, and enter the university. No charge, but donations greatly appreciated. Register ahead at: www.abdnha.org (If you register, but find you cannot attend, please let us know. There is a link to cancel in your email confirmation.)
From Don Liponi:
Join us for a FREE talk on pictograph sites like this one (Shot with gold reflectors and neutral density filter on Fuji Reala Print Film about 25 years ago). The talk is on May 1st at 6:30 PM via Zoom from the comfort of your own laptop or phone. The talk is roughly an hour and then time for whatever questions you have.
YOU DO HAVE TO REGISTER at the link. We will try to see the spiritual nature of these prehistoric paintings and other new information from the world of archeology. The photography is vibrant like this one, and it is in our own backyard.
Don Liponi – your host on that night.
